HEY THERE

It’s hard for me to believe, but at this point I’ve spent more than half of my life working behind a camera in some capacity. I started out photographing family and friends as nothing more than a fun weekend hobby. But it wasn’t long before I realized that I had a passion for working with people and helping them tell their stories.

After graduating high school, I spent the next four years studying journalism at the University of Kentucky where I worked as a staff photographer and eventual Photo Editor of the student newspaper, the Kentucky Kernel. During my time at the Kernel, I got to pursue one of my other passions: sports photography. As a student, I photographed NCAA Tournament games, the Kentucky Derby, races at Keeneland, and more University of Kentucky athletic events than I can count. Once I graduated, I spent four years working as a real estate photographer in Lexington before moving back to Louisville in 2022.

Photography has provided me with more opportunities than I could have ever dreamed of. I’m honored that so many people have trusted me to capture the moment they got engaged, their walk down the aisle, or the announcement of their first child. Life is filled with joyful moments that deserve to be remembered. I look forward to helping you capture them.

A Look Behind the Lens…

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SHOOTING STYLE?

Because of my background in journalism, the easiest way for me to describe my style is naturalistic. Obviously post-processing is still a big part of what I do, but when I photograph and edit, I try to keep things as close to what I see with my naked eye as I can. Trends in photography change all of the time, especially from an editing standpoint, so my natural, simplistic approach will ensure that your album will age beautifully!

WHAT PART OF PHOTOGRAPHY ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?

One of my favorite things about the job is the fact that I get to help my clients tell a story. Photography is a medium that allows people to capture and remember a moment in time for the rest of their lives. When a client trusts me to photograph their newborn the week after he or she is born, I feel so much pride that I get to document a season of life that they’ll remember forever. Everyone that I get to work with- whether they’re getting engaged, having a baby, or graduating college- has a story. And I love being able to help them tell it.

A LOT OF PHOTOGRAPHERS SPECIALIZE IN ONE OR TWO AREAS OF PORTRAITURE- WHY DON’T YOU?

As cliché as it may sound, I genuinely love being able to photograph everyone! Yes, I’ve got my favorites when it comes to the kind of session I get the most excited to see on my calendar (I’ve got a soft spot for engagement shoots), but I really just like getting to work with people. So regardless of the kind of shoot you’re looking for, know that I’m just as excited to be there as you are!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?

That answer largely depends on what you define as a photographer. I first picked up a camera around 12 or 13 years old to photograph my younger sister when she competed at horse shows. I started doing portraits my sophomore year of high school, but really found my passion for it during my undergrad at the University of Kentucky. All that to say, I’ve had a camera in my hands in some capacity for well over a decade. But I’ve been pursuing it professionally for about eight years!
